We're pleased to offer the following services at Yalesville Veterinary Hospital:
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so our staff will be ready for your arrival.
Emergency & Urgent Care
We have veterinarians and personnel on duty seven days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as accidental ingestion of rat poison, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs immediate emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our staff will work to accommodate your pet's medical needs.
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Our doctors have many years of surgical experience. For specialized orthopedic and advanced soft tissue surgeries our board certified veterinary surgeon will perform these procedures.
Laparoscopy is a relatively new surgical technique in veterinary medicine that allows us to perform abdominal surgeries such as spay, gastropexy (stomach tack), bladder surgery or collection of biopsies from abdominal organs (liver, pancreas, intestines). Our new equipment also allows us to evaluate the inside of the bladder without the need of a surgical incision.
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. Dental disease is a common problem in small animals and is too often overlooked.
We utilize a combination of the safest and most advanced anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or at risk patients. Using the most modern equipment - the patients vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. All patients undergoing anesthesia are under the constant supervision of a technical staff member from induction (start of anesthesia) to recovery. While no anesthetic procedure is risk free, we can minimize the risk with careful attention to your pet's health status.
Along with utilizing a veterinary outside commercial laboratory we also have in-house laboratory services for STAT needs.
Our on-site, digital X-Ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Standard radiographic views as well as contrast studies and OFA and PENNHIP hip/elbow studies can be performed at our hospital. All of our radiographs are sent out to be reviewed by board certified veterinary radiologists.
Video Endoscopy allows us to look inside your pet's stomach /small intestine and perform colonoscopies without making a surgical incision. While performing this procedure we can collect tissue biopsies for laboratory analysis.
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives along with nutritional veterinary prescription diets. We have a delivery service for medications and foods also.
Internal Medicine Consults
We have a board certified veterinary internist that visits our hospital 3 times per week performing ultrasounds and consultations. We also enjoy the luxury of having easy access to specialists in dermatology, oncology, cardiology ophthalmology and neurology all located within a short distance to Wallingford.
Ultrasound is considered a standard of care in modern veterinary medicine. It is a minimally invasive Imaging technique that allows us to examine the internal organs of your pet and to potentially diagnose disease affecting the heart and abdominal organs such as liver, spleen, intestinal tract, adrenal glands and lymph nodes. It also allows us to collect biopsy samples for laboratory analysis. In the majority of cases ultrasound can be performed with your pet awake - in rare cases a light sedative is used to help your companion relax.
House calls are perfect for wellness visits for older, arthritic dogs that have difficulty getting into the car and also for pets that get stressed going into the hospital. We offer yearly wellness/vaccine visits, chronic illness bloodwork monitoring, vaccine boosters, subcutaneous fluid administration and minor treatments. We also offer transport to and from our facility for owners who are unable to bring their pets themselves. At-home euthanasia services are available for pets whose owners prefer that they pass in comfortable, familiar surroundings.
