Pet Acupuncture

Pet Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the placement and manipulation of very small, fine needles on specific points of the body to stimulate blood flow, speed healing, decrease inflammation, and relieve pain. This procedure is safe and causes minimal discomfort and can be used to help manage disease symptoms in conjunction with other treatments.

Some conditions that can be improved with the aid of acupuncture:

  • Muscle pain/spasms
  • Osteoarthritis

Herbal Treatments

Yalesville Veterinary Hospital is now offering holistic consultations and herbal preparation to complement conventional medical services. Dr. Marjorie O’Neill is a licensed veterinarian who has received specialty training in Veterinary Western Herbal Medicine through the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapy.

Herbs are used to normalize the body’s natural processes and help the body to ultimately heal itself. Since this is a much slower process, conventional medications may be used short term to provide more immediate relief of symptoms for your pet’s comfort while the herbs have time to work.

Herbal formations are individualized to meet the unique needs of each patient. Since the formation requires careful consideration and blending of herbs, it may not be ready on the day of your pet’s appointment. In the meantime, we can work with you to determine a care plan for your companion according to their specific needs.

Integrative Medicine Can Improve Your Pet’s Quality of Life

Where conventional therapies fall short, we can explore integrative treatment options to achieve a better health outcome for your pet. Contact Yalesville Veterinary Hospital if you would like to know more or want to schedule a consultation with your vet to discuss whether your pet is a candidate for one of our alternative therapies.
